Mass Grading Excavating

Practically any type of construction project begins with grading, depending on the site’s condition beforehand. In short, mass grading will be employed wherever stability and strength are needed to support the finished structure or pavement.

These types of projects include:

  • Parking Lots
  • Roads and Sidewalks
  • Building Pads
  • Home Sites
  • Commercial Buildings
  • Industrial Facilities
  • Athletic Fields

Reshaping a site involves extensive upfront planning and coordination. Equipment, including dozers, scrapers, and motor graders, are used to move the earth so there is a stable, flat surface on which construction can begin.

Although the two are often used on the same projects, grading, and excavating are two different techniques. Excavation involves digging areas of earth to help create the basis for a construction project. It is only after excavation that grading can take place. Grading for site preparation is a more nuanced process involving smoothing the dirt to achieve the elevations and slopes called for in the project design.
