Hoffman Construction’s Chris Goss Receives Patriot Award for Outstanding Support of Service Members

Black River Falls, WI – September 23, 2024
Chris Goss, President of Hoffman Construction Company, has been honored with the prestigious Patriot Award by Colonel (Ret.) John A.P. Gessner of the U.S. Army. Presented on behalf of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the award recognizes Goss’s exceptional support for employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve, specifically acknowledging Petty Officer First Class (PO1) Mason Stelter of the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Nominated by Stelter following his return from deployment, Goss was recognized for fostering a work environment that prioritizes the needs of service members, offering flexibility and ensuring seamless transitions between military service and civilian employment.

“For things like my freedom, my rights, and the protection provided by the United States government and active and inactive service members, I want to say thank you with sincere appreciation,” said Goss during the award presentation. “Mason has to take time off to fulfill his duty, but when he shows up, he’s ready to work. That work ethic is something we see in all veterans at Hoffman Construction.”

The Patriot Award is given to supervisors who demonstrate exceptional support for Guard and Reserve employees, ensuring flexible scheduling, time off for military duties, and genuine care for service members’ families. Under Goss’s leadership, Hoffman Construction has embraced a culture of respect and teamwork, particularly for its military personnel.

“It’s one thing to say thank you, but it’s another to take the time and effort to fill out the paperwork and nominate us. For that, I’m very grateful to Mason,” Goss added.

During the ceremony, Colonel Gessner emphasized the importance of employers like Hoffman Construction in supporting citizen-soldiers, highlighting the critical role such businesses play in the success of the nation’s military mission.

Mason Stelter also expressed his gratitude, saying, “The support from Chris Goss and the entire Hoffman Construction team made balancing my service and work responsibilities manageable. Their understanding allowed me to fully commit to both.”

Hoffman Construction proudly welcomed Stelter back after his deployment and deeply appreciates his service to the country. Goss remarked, “We are grateful for Mason’s contributions both as a service member and as a valued team member at Hoffman. His commitment reflects the dedication we strive for in all aspects of our company.”

In addition to the Patriot Award, Goss received a certificate and lapel pin as symbols of the honor, along with a Statement of Support certificate for Hoffman Construction, underscoring the company’s continued commitment to its employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.
